Reed CLEARFIELD Shirley L. Reed is seeking a seat on the Clearfield City Council. She feels the voice of the people has been ignored and if elected she promised to be responsive to the citiizens and their right of freedom of choice, especially for projects the magnitude of the garbage burn plant. She pledged to uphold the Clearfield City master plan and zoning ordinances, to protect property values and business licenses and said she would not give special consideration to select groups. Mrs. Reed said she feels elected officials must be responsible to thoroughly research each issue. She has served on a citizens team organized to research effects of a proposed garbage burn plant and has spoken on the subject at various Davis County city councils and civic clubs. She said she feels these facts were not made public by proponents of the project. Mrs. Reed promised- to strongly promote the redevelopment of the downtown Clearfield business district and work to eliminate further deterioration.. Be Given, Cheese and butter will be given away to senior citizens in the north Davis County area on Sept. 22 and 23. To receive USDA products, seniors must be 60 or older, reside in Davis County and must sign in person for cheese and butter. Proof of residence and age is required. These foods are believed to be effective in reducing complications of pregnancy, in increasing birth weight of infants and in providing maximum potential for mental and physical development. The foods prescribed for infants and children are designed to promote optimal growth during their critical period of development. Women who are pregnant, lactating or who have delivered within six months may be eligible for enrollment. Infants under year and children up to 5 years of age may also qualify for assistance.
