It was locally written by Jeff Chadwick and LeeAnn Harris. The cast is composed of college age youth primarily from Weber, Davis, Morgan and Box Elder Counties. Included will be a 300 voice chorale, over 30 dancers and some 20 dramatic roles. Also there are several vocal soloists, small ensembles and an orchestra of 15 to 20 people. The Chorale will perform 25 popular patriotic pieces throughout the course of the show. Characters such as Abraham Lincoln, Julie Ward Howe, Christopher Columbus, Benjamin Franklin, Joseph Smith and others will be portrayed in the CHILDREN FROM the Layton community Church offered aid to the needy in an unusual way this summer. Alan Zenor (from left), son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Zenor, Layton; Sheldon Voigt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Voigt, Kaysville; and Billy Cunningham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Cunningham, Layton, were among the children who helped collect can openers for needy families. They were assisted by the church's educational director, Sarah Voigt. Owens of Clearfield will be singing Oh Beautiful for Spacious Skies with the Chorale accompanying, as will DeAnne Child of Clinton, who will be performing in America. Singing a duet in Blue Tail Fly will be Blake McMillan of Clearfield. Greg Prestgard of Layton will be working in the duet Billie Boy. Paul Maloy of West Bountiful will solo on Lorena and Scott Steed of Kaysville will solo on Tenting Tonight. Paul and Scott will be playing the roles of the Southern and Northern Soldiers in the Civil War Segment of the show. They team forces on a moving duet of the final verse of The Battle Hymn of the Republic. Abraham Lincoln as played by Jeff Okleberry of Layton is a powerful dramatical role. In the same score we will see Shelley Favero of Bountiful playing the part of Julie Ward Howe. Larry Lectenberg of Bountiful is William Penn and Paul Silvestor of Layton is one of the missionaries in the final scene. The accompanist at the piano is Wayne Adams of Layton. Due to the response to last production of The years American Destiny, the show has expanded from three performances to five. I School AdditionOkayed ' FARMINGTON An addi- tion that will extend the east end of North Layton Junior High School and add 13 classrooms will be constructed by Lawrence Construction Company it was announced by the Davis County Board of Education after bids were opened on July 19. The new addition will cost $840,048, the amount of the companys low bid, and represents a per classroom cost of $64,600. The addition has been designed by the architectural firm of Richardson Associates of Salt Lake City and was estimated by ol BRENT SMITH them to cost $935,000. Eighteen other bids were taken on the addition and ranged from a high of $1,270,000 to the low bid of $840,048. It is estimated that construction will be completed by June 30, 1984. Richardson Associates were also named as architects for an addition to Centerville Junior High School which will include a media center and classrooms.
