Accustomed to jumping out to big leads in the early innings, the Clearfield team allowed Bear River to score eight runs in the first inning of last Tuesday's state tournament game in Sprlngville and Bear River went on to win That set up a Wednesday game between Clearfield and 9-- 3. Roosevelt, which Roosevelt won 10-eliminating Clearfield from the tournament. The loss to Bear River may have contributed to Wednesdays loss to Roosevelt, according to Clearfield Coach Jess Perez. Mecham competed in the folowing events: butterfly, gold medal; backstroke, gold er 100-met- er medal; backstroke, gold medal; medley relay, gold medal; freestyle, silver medal. er 100-met- er er Clearfield Rec Announces Activities The Clearfield Recreation De- partment announces that all boys interested in playing recreation football can register at the Clearfield Swim Pool, 934 S. 1000 E. from July 26 to Aug. 3 during the hours of 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, through Friday. A birth certificate or blessing certificate must accompany all registrations for proof of age. The fee will be $15 which includes suit rental and a physical exam. Teams will be divided into the - and under or 13, 14 years of age. Cut off date for determining age is Aug. 31. 4-- Preconditioning will begin at state. Roy Sets Registration For Boys Football League ROY All boys interested in playing recreation football should register at the Roy Recreation Building (behind fire station) beginning July 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, July 30, from 9 a.m. to noon. Late registration will be Aug. 1, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Recreation Building. After teams are formed, boys will be placed on waiting lists, if space is not available. The weight, ages and teams will be as follows: Mites, 75 lbs. and under or 8, 9 years old (no previous experience); Pee Wee, 75 lbs. and under 8, 9, 10 years of age; Midget, 90 lbs. and under, 10, 11 years of age; Junior, 104 lbs. and under, 11, 12 years of age; Senior, 125 lbs. and under or 12, 13 years of age; Major, 140 lbs. and under or 14, 15 years of age. The cutoff date for determining age group is Aug. 31. If a boy becomes 11 years old before Aug. 31 of this year; he must participate in the Midget 1 and must be paid when the suit is received. All boys must furnish a copy of their birth certificate or baptismal record to be left with the recreation department when the fee is paid. Suits will be issued beginning Aug. 9. will begin for all boys, regardless if boy has played football before or not. Football suits cannot be worn until Aug. 15. Physical examinations for the Roy area will be given Aug. 4, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at a cost of $4. Each boy must have a physical examination. ' Parents and young adults are asked to assist in coaching the football teams. All boys must be registered to play football prior to Aug. 12, 1983, as the number of teams must be registered at this time.
