| Show ENOUGH experimental JARMS FOR ALL representative scott of kansas chair man of the house committee on agn culture has conceived a hovel plan which he believes if adopted will en able the farmers of the country to pro duce better and far larger crops than heretofore mr scott s proposition involves the establishment of experimental farms of one acre each in every county in a group of four western agricultural states for the purpose of giving the farmers a practical demonstration of the best methods of growing different kinds of crops it is proposed that the lands for this shall be furnished by the farmers themselves and that they do the work of cultivation under the dir of the experts of the department of appropriation from con gress will be required to test mr scott s pan it is explained as the agricultural department now has the requisite num ber of experts to carry out the plan mr scott declares that enough money is now being practically wasted by the department of agriculture in sending out farm bulletins and othel govern ment documents to carry out his scheme he says that much vaul ifor matron has been developed by the ex in these publications but their contents are so little understood by the farmers that they don t derive the knowledge from them that they should as to the best cultural methods to grow corn wheat hay and the other regular |
