Show FRUIT GROWERS association BUSY yesterday mr air G W palmer representing the utah fruit grower association cia tion called at the news office for a lew few minutes and outlined the activities ol of that organization he stated that the prospects tor for the biggest crop ot of fruit in the history 0 of the state maintain everywhere and at the same time said that prospects tor for distributing that crop were never so perfect in fact were never so carefully and systematically mati cally worked out which coupled with the success attained by the organization last year means a sure market at profitable prices tor for the grower mr palmer went on to state that 75 ot of the bearing orchards ot of tho the state would be served by the utah fruit growers association this year which is an increase over last years acreage ot of he stated that practically every association in the state except the brigham city fruit growers association had become animated with the state organization and fond hopes are entertained by the officials of lining up the local institution before long it Is the purpose of the association to organize a local branch in brigham tor for this year and make shipments from this point the utah fruit growers association la is organized upon a non dividend paying basis each member is assessed at the rate of 5 cents for each bearing tree in his orchard as an initiation tee fee and when the fruit Is marketed the expenses are deducted and the net proceeds are then given to the growers last year elberts elberta peaches brought the growers who shipped through this association about 36 cents per box with the erratic conditions of the market this years out look is much more promising this association is with the california fruit exchange thereby haying that at organizations splendid distributing facilities I 1 the result of which was that last year utah fruit had the option of going into something like markets scattered throughout the united states and canada these same facilities are available this year and with the added experience of last year the officials look with abundant optimism to the harvest time |
