Show Wednesday, December Sun Advocate, Price, Utah 5A 30, 1981 to the editor Him for all the help, strength, and meaning we need to live this life here in this valley. As you look at the hills around us this week, remember that He who is from on A meditation high" is with vou. To the Editor: I will lift The Psalmist writes unto From hills. the up my eyes whence does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth." Psalm 121:1-- 2. It is difficult to live in Price and the surrounding area and not be aware of the hills around us. During this time of year, they are made to stand out even more because of the pure white snow caps that top them. We also cannot overlook their significance in the lives of so many people, people who daily enter their insides to bring out the coal which is so vital of thousands of g to the at time of year, this people. Also, the hills become the camping areas and trodding places for countless hunters. The hills had a significance for the song writer of the Book of Psalms. Time and time again he refers to the hills. As our text suggests, it was from the lofty places above the valleys that the Lord bestowed his blessings and help. All too often we become preoccupied with the valley that we are in and fail to remember that it is simply by raising our heads, our sights, if you will, that makes it possible for us to see a source of strength beyond ourselves. As Christians, our faith in Jesus Christ should be reminding us daily that we but have to look up to well-bein- Rev. Donald R. Almy, Pastor Ascension Lutheran Church Price Proud Senior Editor: Two letters appeared in the Sun Advocate shortly after the leeway election in November, one letter written by 17 employees, school teachers and staff, of the Petersen School located at Sunnyside, Utah, addressed to Carbon County residents in disapproval of the way they voted. The other letter written by Mr. Beste, a music teacher at East Carbon High School, choosing for his criticism coal miners and the unfortunate elderly. We all know that these two categories of people alone are worth their weight in gold, much of it in the form of taxes. We elderly do not consider ourselves unfortunate, but very important people. The coal miners are definitely V.I.P. Referring to the two letters, what is really unfortunate is the criticism the people of Carbon County received for their way of voting in a free and secret ballot election. Proud to be a resident of East Carbon for 38 years Senior Citizen Mina E. Hackney Club manager mad To the editor: On Dec. 15, the county commissioners revoked the Comic Book Clubs license to sell beer on reports of minors drinking beer at the club. I was not informed by any of the county commissioners and had to hear of the action taken against me by radio station KRPX who were just reporting the news as it was given to them. From the meeting the club was tried, convicted and sentenced without any chance to represent themselves. In other words you are guilty until proven innocent. The county commissioners changed their minds and let the Comic Book stay open until New Years party. The clubs weekend business was severely damaged by the radio reports as a lot of people think the Comic Book is closed. Its not. Were open and were going to party this weekend. The Comic Book Club has never charged with any violation of any Utah law. In the Sun Advocate Dec 18, Sheriff Ross Horsley said the club has been guilty of numerous violations. Again I guess youre guilty until proven innocent. The club has spent thousands of dollars on radio KOAL for adds and all the adds always said you must have proper identification. The no club maintains tight security at the door I.D., no admittance, no exceptions. In fact, the club manager, I personally watch the door with my bouncers. The club does not want anyone under 21 years old to enter the club. We have even let law officers search our apartment for underage persons. I am not perfect and recall two incidents when reports of under-ag- e people were in the club. The persons who let them in have since been replaced. This was not a willfull and intentional violation, they just got by us at the door. The club does not mind having police officers make a patrol each band night to check for violations, but the club cannot continue to operate with eight officers at the club. Were not mobsters and are not on the FBIs list. Were just people making a most-wante- d living. I worked in the mines 11 years and was in a severe mining accident. I just try to better my working conditions. I guess some of the things I do are not morally accepted in Utah: women mud contests, etc. wrestlers, wet But in America you should be able to believe what you want as it does not infringe on others rights. There will be a County Commission Meeting Dec. 30 to decide the license of the Comic Book Club. The club just asks to be treated fairly and justly. If we lose our license the New Years party will be our last night. Tickets are $20 each. It may take awhile but just think how excited our grandchildren will be when we finally outvote Sanpete and Sevier Counties. We gotta keep our children in mind, dont we? I kinda like snakes, spiders, atomic war, and that new reaportioning. One of these years them upstate Reagonopoliticians will perfect their game of Reagonopoly. Then, I can vote in Price or Cleveland for a Logan councilman race. I cant wait! Who knows? Maybe well get lucky and our U.S. Congress will reaportion all of Utah into that California district. But that aint the same thing is it? Then theres the little matter of maybe folks around here losin some water rights. That aint no problem. We all got plenty of water and everybody knows that water aint needed in a desert area, anyways. Im waitin till my tap goes dry. I figure thats the right time to complain. It wont be too late then. This is all probably a sign of comin things from them Copper Domers. Next, our property taxes will help to repave roller disco rinks in Lehi, subsidize aerobic weightlifting clinics in Kanab, and give much needed pay raises to school teachers in Blanding. I aint apathetik, I just feel theyre all good causes. I aint gonna do nothin. Nope, I aint gonna do nothin. The heck I aint! I joined up. How bout you? future. With the shift to Republican dominance of the Senate, however, major jurisdiction over FOIA has now moved from the Government Affairs Committee to Sen. Hatch and his Subcommittee on the Constitution. So far, Hatch claims an interest in preserving the integrity of FOIA. He has introduced his own bill, which at this stage is more desirable than the write Sen. Hatch and express their own concerns about open public access to their government. Since the senator is up for this coming year, he should be willing to listen. on Administration version but still has problems, including an FBI exemption on terrorism, racketeering and confidential sources, which we feel erodes the effectiveness of FOIA. The Sun Advocate joins with the Utah Headliners Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists in urging Sen. Hatch and the rest of the Utah congressional delegation to resist any major revisions of the FOIA, and we encourage readers to Winter Coats 30-4- 0 off Sweaters s 30-4- 0 CtecD00d3oQnn3a?
