Montoya lost the bout by a close decision. It was a good fight according to the young Montoyas fathercoach Ray Montoya, Sr. as he looked to be ahead on points after the first round. The fight was stopped during the first round as Blichard was bleeding from the nose and had to be examined by a doctor.
