In remarks to the graduates during the ceremonies in the Carbon High School auditorium, Don Denison, member of the a few sighs Carbon County Board of Education, congratulated the students on the extra effort, hard work and courage they displayed in taking this second chance to get a high school education. Basic skills are the foundation needed to learn new things well and to adapt to change. Patricia Mills, who said she had been out of school 17 years, credited Mary Angotti, a friend who teaches basic education classes, with inspiring her to return to school. Mills, who has completed two quarters at CEU along with getting her high school diploma, said Mrs. Angotti told her that she could be successful her classes and that she should return to school. My SAT scores are 63 percent above the national average and I plan to become a third grade teacher, she said.
