Her family will host the event. Matilda was the third of eleven children bom to Pasquale and Marianina Mariani, who emigrated from Italy and she was born Jan. 2nd, 1909, in Salt Lake City. Matilda has resided there her entire life. On August 25, 1925, she married Antonio Furano. "Tony" was a chef at Hotel Utah for over 40 years and passed away on Feb. 2, 1963. Matilda worked for twenty years for the Holy Cross hospital as an aide in the surgical division. She retired in 1980. She loves to crochet and has made afghans for her children and grandchildren. Her family and friends are "expressing love and appreciation to her on her eightieth birthday". She is the mother of four children, Pete Furano, Catherine Cline, Giovanna Milner and Nina Christensen.
