In lower grades, reading for math assistance, and, kindergarten children, help in color and number recognition. one-on-o- Volunteers help prepare materials for teachers, making copies, cutting out, running off work sheets and making flash cards. They also assist in the computer lab where they teach students how to run programs, keyboarding skills and offer other help. Students from all grades, are including kindergarten included in the computer program, said Mrs. Howell and volunteer help offers them encouragement and needed skills. About 75 regular volunteers assist each week at the school. she noted, with many more in various activities including eye clinics, safety fairs and fund raisers. Volunteers also help each spring with the schools Eager Reader program, a reading incentive project. In kindergarten through fourth grade, there are two volunteers in each classroom each week. Volunteers donated 4500 hours during the first two months of involved school, she said. "We receive tremendous support from our parent volunteers and the staff," Mrs. Howell concluded.
