Residential and commercial appraisal courses are bing offered at Salt Lake Community College beginning Tuesday. The class will be held every Tuesday for 11 weeks. Tuition is $115. The residential appraisal course introduces students to appraisal for the first time, with emphasis on filling out appraisal forms used by mortgage lenders in the valley. Students will take a field trip to a new subdivision where they will measure, walk through and inspect houses. Commercial appraisal training is for individuals interested in taking the broker exam or appraising commercial properties. Those enrolling in this course should have prioer exposure to real estate since the course bypasses preliminaries to focus on commercial properties dealing with market area analysis and capitalization. Nine schools share the copy machine at Smith, and we only get to use it for three hours a week - and usually not even that much because CITY. The Utah Shakespearean Festival is sponsoring a high school Shakespeare competition starting Oct. 2. The festival, along with the Souther Utah State College Theatre department, sponsors the contest to introduce young people to the work of Shakespear and to provide students the opportunity to present scenes in front of qualified judges. Our judges dont just mark their scores on a bollot and thats it, said R. Scott Phillips, public realtions director for the festival. They work with the students, show them what they did well and what they could improve. This is a competition, but it is also a chance for students to improve their skills. The contest runs Oct. 2 and 3 and is divided into two classifications: Westminster for 1A and 2A schools and Oxford for 3Aand 4A schools.
