In the past weekends Ute Football play, the Cottonwood Gremlins got a kickoff return from Doug Smith and six pointers from Dallas Aste, Reilley Nichols and Chad Curry to defeate Granite Added were solid defensive efforts by Robert Curtis and Shawn Draper. After Skyline had posted a lead. Cottonwood scored as Dale Brofy lateraled to Aaron Reynolds, who passed to Jeff Buckwalter. Buckwalter had five touchdowns on the day. Reynolds and John Montgomery also played well offensively. Ryan Huff, Quint Judd, Bryan Bernes, Troy Boatwright and Justin Griffith. Leading the defense was Chad Pedersen, Ty Benson and Nate Savage, who had an interception. Solid special teams play helped keep Tooele in the hole during the second half. 14-1- Taylorsville TAYLORSVILLE. Ute League Football action from the past weekend saw the Taylorsville Gremlin B team defeat Tooele on fine performances by Jeremy Barclay, Ryan Noble, Nick Humphries and Kyle Nelson on offense. The defense was led by Tony Macaluso, who had an interception, along with Adam Halsey and Bran19-1- 3 MURRAY. In Ute League football play from the past weekend, Murray's Gremlins lost a tough 14-- 7 decision to Judge. Murrays only touchdowm was scored by Jacob Huggard. Great defense was played by Jason Lund-berKelly Oakeson and Joel Huff, aided by Christopher LaChance and Chad Sunquist. Peter Fondaco played well on offense. The Peewees winning streak continued with a 38-victory over Judge. Benji Johnson posted an kickoff return for one touchdown and then ran 40 yards for a second. Johnson also caught scoring passes of 70 and 40 yards from Tyler Dastrup. The defensive line play was key. particulary Jason Asay, Kelly Coulson, David Poole. The other Gremlin squad defeated in a battle of unbeaten Cyprus teams, led by the play of Chris Davis on both sides of the line, blocking and tackling. Quarterback Jeff Stone was 5x10 passing for 74 yards and one touchdown and rushed for 107 yards and a second six pointer. Francisco Maestas caught the touchdown pass. The Mighty Mite Be team beat West Jordan Tommy Lopez and Howard Vaifunua each scored a touchdown, while Travis Ewing scored twice led by the blocking of Ryan Christensen, Losh Lund-berCody O'Brian, Derek and Josh Love. Olympus will host Cyprus in a 3:30 game Friday and will then travel to Skyline for a night game at 7: 30 on Wednesday. In Fridays game. Olympus took the opening kickoff and marched 72 pass yards for a score on a from Bryan Seagle to Mike Mayfield. Mayfield had also caught two passes for good yardage during the drive. During this drive, two passes from Scott Deuel to Rusty Eyre, one for 40 yards, and the other for 25, were the big gainers. Jordan coaches A1 Watrin, Russ Thompson and Mark Hunter were elated with the homecoming win, coming as it did against a 4A school. Coach Thompson felt that Jordan's putting more pressure on the quarterback in the second half was one of the keys to the victory while Olympus Coach Mark Lyons (ell that Jordans putting in a new oflensive scheme at the half caused some confusion for his defense players. Coach Thompson pointed out that Jeff Grant had another great game as he rushed for 125 yards on 19 carries. Rusty Eyre caught three passes for 90 yards and Scott Deuel had a much better game in the second half with his passing. Coach Thompson felt that his offensive line of Chris Gee, Troy Knight, Travis Bircumshaw, John Coyle, Gary Warsnyak, Jason Judd. Jamie Fullmer and Joel Steadman had a good game again. Coach Lyons said that "it was a frustrating game to lose. I felt we had opportunities but every time we got in close we got hit with a big penalty. Lyons brought out that Gary Munson carried six times for 40 yards, Bryan Seagle had 10 carries for 48 yards, and that Seagle was 9x20 in the passing department with 145 yards through the air of the total 355 yard offensive el fort. He also singled out the top defensive point man for his team, Brett Paulsen and Blake Williams and brought out that Seagle made a touchdown saving interception at the two yard line to overcome. After West stretched its lead with two score's early in the third quarter, Granite answered back with an march which featured good runs by Janies Ballou and Marc Monzano and a pass from quarterback Paul Gines to Davis for 15, alter which Gines ran for the score.
