Again, go back over your list and put a plus mark beside all the ones which you prefer sharing with someone and put two plus marks if there is one certain person you prefer to do them with. Ever so often we find our life's in a muddle. things confused, we feel sorry for ourselxes and find were so busy doing w hat we THl.SK we should do, that we don't haxetime to do xxhat we li .4 STtodo. Ex ery That's the time I recall this technique I stumbled upon a few years ago. I don't remember where it came from, dang it. Perhaps some seminar ... a class ... or maybe it came from Reader's Digest. Who knows?? But it's one great dexice for taking stock of yourself and your life. self-analys- First, get a sheet of paper and in the upper left hand corner write down how many years youve lixed. And then, make a list of that same number of things you loxe to do. Things you delight in. And it shouldn't be hard, for it must haxe been a poor year if you didn't find at least one thing of joy. Don't try to xxrite a book or exen a sentence. Just jot doxxn simple words like: making my own bread; xxalking barefoot; watching a thunder storm in the dark of night with all draperies open; watching snow turn hard corners into soft sensual curves; making loxe; having a baby; nursing that baby; watching a certain old moxie; tea, toast and fresh strawberry jam; the view from my kitchen xxindoxx in the moonlight; and on and on. .Now, go back oxer your list and put a dollar sign after every item that must be purchased or paid for. Also there may be some things you are doing by yourself that youd rather share with your spouse. Either way, don't feel guilty. Speak up and share how you feel. Then, again, maybe you need to find a new special person with whom to share some of life's joys. Circle the items that would not have been on your list five years ago and then underline the ones you still want to find on your list five or ten years from now. Without the help of a therapist you will see a pattern of your own life emerging and you might be in fora big surprise. Ask the one who is closest to you to do a similar . . . and then compare the two. My, my, my, how we do learn about life. list Study your list, it can tell you a lot. Are you spending too much time alone? Too much time with others? Are you stagnant? Did you have a hard time finding that many things to list? All these responses are indications of our growth . . . . . . how well weve kept in touch with ourselx es . . . or, if weve been so busy keeping in touch with others that we've forgotten ourselves. This just could be the most important list you make in your whole life. Drop me a note and let me know if you find it as great (frightening?) as I haxe. Bye.
