Parents of students attending Valley junior high are being invited to have fun by helping students prepare for the school spelling contest, according to school spokesman Polly Haugh. HUNTER. Spirit Week went over really well last week and Friday was the highlight of it all. The seniors creamed the juniors win and sophomores with a for the week. David Wright was crowned spirit king and Christie Barlow spirit queen. Other royalty were David Riley, spirit prince; Dana Lauritzen, spirit princess; Jef Olsen, spirit duke; Hollie Swensen, spirit duchess. Our tremendous win over Skyline on Friday really topped off the week. The Warriors defeated the Eagles putting them one game behind Skyline in Region Three standings. Chad Christensen was our top scorer and led the offense, making 13 of his 18 points. All members of game-higthe team gave their all and deserve a big hand. Tomorrow (Friday) the Warriors will play at Granite, and after last Fridays game, Im sure they'll take home another victory. Utah Technical College and Westminster College will meet with seniors and parents at 7 p.m. tonight and on Feb. 19 and 25 to discuss financial aid forms. We are encouraging all seniors and their parents to go over their financial aid forms, then bring them to one of these meetings for help in said PTSA filling them out, spokesman Helen Taylor. Juniors and their parents are being invited to a similar meeting to be held at 7 p.m. on Feb. 26, at which time representatives of the University of Utah will present information on preparation for college, admission requirements, scholarships and financial aid available, followed by a question and answer session. Health will be the focal point of first graders attention during the next two weeks at Magna elementary. Starting on Tuesday and continuing through the week, students in first grade will be studying the various aspects of health and first aidy according to Julie Andersen, first grade teacher coordinating the project. Each of the four first grade teachers will deal will two health-relatetopics, instructing separate groups of first graders in rotation. Study topics will include teeth, poison control, first aid, burns and fire prevention, grooming, choking, pool safety, bleeding, nutrition and shock and getting help when in need. The week of study will lead up to a school health fair, which is planned for Feb. 25, when health projects prepared by the students and teachers will be on display.
