To compete in the Miss Salt Lake Valley Pageant on April 25, those interested must submit entry forms by March 7. The pageant is open to young women age who are either high school graduates or will graduate this year, are residents of Salt Lake Valley areas not already served by a local pageant. In addition, the pageant is also open to those who may have won previous local 17-2- 6 pageants. Judging will be based on talent, interviews. beauty and poise. The win- assistance receive scholarship to the college of her choice and be eligible to compete for the Miss Utah title. The world famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir will broadcast its 3,000th consecutive weekly network radio program on Sunday, February 15, 1987. It will be the 3,000th consecutive weekly network broadcast for the famed musical organization. Music and the Spoken Work, the formal name of the weekly program, is the worlds longest running national network show, dating back to 1929. The program has been on the air longer than most choir members have lived. The roster of the 332 current members of the choir shows 122 from Salt Lake City. The others come from 37 n other Utah cities, ranging from on the north (75 miles from Salt Lake City ) to Provo on the south (45 miles). Choir members from the Green Sheet area include: Kenneth Crocheron and Delwin Hilton, Holladay; Craig Edwards and Julie Rhode, Magna; Deanna Atkinson, Jay Call, Valeen Carter, Renee Gallegos, Dorothy Killpack, Sue Liljegren, Vera Lee Redd, Dee Rich and Christine Timothy, Murray. Also, Dianne Brown, Taylorsville; Sheldon Anderson, David Bowers, Richard Lamoreaux, Jacqueline Maynard and Carolyn Smith of West Valley. The 3,000th weekly broadcast on Feb. 15th at 9:30 a.m. will feature a special program plus a commemorative program that will follow at 10 a.m. Both will be heard and seen on KSL, Salt Lake City, TV Channel 5. Women outnumber men in the Choir, 186 to 146. Members range in age from 31 to 59. To participate in the weekly broadcast, Choir members drive a combined total of at least 4,000 miles. All are members of the sponsoring church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. They are unpaid, volunteering hundreds of hours each year for rehearsals, broadcasts, recording sessions, and concert tours. The Choir is heard now on not only the national CBS radio network, but also on a syndicated television network. It is broadcast by American Armed Forces Radio into a dozen European countries, and by international radio transmission, it goes into many Latin American nations where the Spoken Word is translated into Spanish or Portugese.
