She uses broad facial expression to warm up her character and her beauty is enhanced with the costuming and grace with which she moves about the stage. The shows most enjoyable moment is that in which she and Miss Cohen battle over a nonexistent Ernest. Jim Jansen is perfect as Algernon Moncrief. A local product with national credentials, he was wonderful last season in Harvey and returns with that same foppish flair for comedy in this younger, more romantic role. He too uses his face and body extremely well. Max Robinson as Worthing proves once again his versatility. His presence in a PMT production is always welcomed by audiences. He can act bored or concerned with equal aplomb and provides a glimpse into his character at virtually every turn. His flair for comedy is never more evident. In a character role Judith Tillman as Miss Prism steals the show. Not this role always an attention-getteis delightfully portrayed by this New r, York actress whose expression and walk are extremely helpful. Virginia Downing, who has acted with such notables as Henry Fonda and Olivia di Havilland on stage and Elizabeth Taylor in films, doesnt seem to have as much fun as the role of Lady Bracknell affords. She is properly regal and somewhat obnoxious, but doesnt go beyond the obvious in developing her character. Canon Chasuble is played by Richard Matthews and while the role doesnt offer enough substance for his remarkable talents, he makes the most of his time on stage and is fast becoming a favorite with PMT audiences. David Spencer fills both the role of Lane and that of Merriman. He is most successful as Merriman, a curmudgeon played entertainingly without being overdone.
