Names of student body officers were announced last week at Elsenhower junior high. Matt Swensen, son of Gary and Irene Swensen, will serve as presnewly-electe- d ident. I Other officers include Jay McMaster, son of Kathy and Bob Brinton, Kerrie Williams, daughter of Burnett and Linda Williams, and Luanne Ahlstrom, daughter of Kent and Julie Ahlstrom. Cheerleaders will include Steven Schmid, Tiffany Stewart, Laurie Jeppeson, Holly Swensen, James Jensen and Heidi Tuttle. KEARNS. The annual spring dance fesitval will be presented at 2 p.m. June 5 at West Kearns elementary. The program will be held outside, weather permitting. Children in the morning kindergarten classes will present Round in a Circle, using parachutes. Afternoon kindergarten Ballin The classes will perform Jack. First graders will present a number using lumi sticks, titled Hi Ho, as well as a bean bag dance, Bean Bag Boogie. Sing a Rainbow is the title of the second garde number, which will feature KEARNS. An opportunity to is being offered those interested by the Smart Steppers Majorettes, a unit of the Kearns high Community School. The sessions will begin Tuesday with the beginning class scheduled at 4:14. Adavnce registration may be handled by calling Kerry Vance, streamers. Second grade children will also present a drill routine to Id Like To Teach The World To Sing. Third grade students will perform aerobic dance routines, fourth graders a parachute dance, Fifthe grade students will present jazzer-cisand break dancing, while the sixth grade will present the history of dance. Students in third through sixth grade will present the finale, We Are The World. Parents and friends are being invited to the program. tfVMi) ouuutrv Winners Announced In Oquirrh Hills Marathon KEARNS. Winners have been announced in the Oquirrh Hills elementary according to spokesman Shauna Petersen. Youd have thought it was a parade. Policemen were blocking traffic and there were spectators e everywhere along the route. But, instead of a parade, it was something even greater children from age 5 to 12 were running in a race, the Oquirrh Hills Mini Marathon, she said. Under the direction of Mrs. Petersen and Marilyn Price, the event was complete with seven police escorts and eight finish-lin- e judges, she added. An awards assembly was held for the entire student body of 730, honoring the eight boy and eight girl win- n, one-mil- -- ,'X ners in each grade. First place winners received a gold medallion, others ribbons. Every one of the 730 students receivced a certificate e honoring them for finishing the course, said Mrs. Petersen. The project was part of a physical fitness program designed to help the children be more healthy, she added.
