That was what people were saying about the Cyprus high Pirates who got some superb performances from young players during a brief appearance in the State 4A Cage Tournament. The Pirates suffered their second loss last Wednesday afternoon, falling 2 to a Roy team that came in on a roll, stumbled in the first round and then righted itself to finish in the top eight despite a losing record. The Pirates, who rode a rollercoaster of inconsistency throughout' the season looked good in defeat both at the hands of the Royals and especially in losing a heartbreaker to Hillcrest, which in turn lost a heartbreaker to eventual champion Bonneville and captured third place. 66-6- Alumni Tourney Deadline Looms KEARNS. The deadline for entering teams into the annual Kearns high alumni basketball tournament is Thursday, April 4. The tournament will be held April 2 at Kearns high under sponsorship of the Kearns Booster Club. All interested parties are being asked to contact Sterling Parker, 7 or Dave Cline, to register teams. There will be a $50 per team charge. Judge Memorials Bulldogs took some of the sting out finish in the of their second-plac- e State 3A Tourney by traveling back east to a national Catholic tournament and finishing a strong third. Among the notables in the tourney were Baltimores Dunbar and DeMatha in Washington, D. C. The two schools were ranked in the top five in USA Todays prep poll.
