Most people become involved in PTA organizations while their children are in elementary school. Many of them decide as soon as the kids reach high school, or even junior high age, that they no longer need concern themselves in PTA ac- tivities. Some few stalwarts remain involved as long as they have children in school, but thankfully relinquish the PTA involvement as soon as the last child graduates But some, much rarer breeds, remain active in working to serve children through PTA even when their own children are graduated, married and gone from home But how many women are still assisting an elementary school PTA organization while living in a retirement home? Fremont elementary has two such volunteers and, says PTA president Nancy Pearson, We are very glad to have them. They perform a needed service and we appreciate their efforts very much. Maud Fullmer and Ann Weatherford, residents of Golden Living Center here, dont consider their efforts such a big deal They asked for help, so I said Id do it, said Mrs. Fullmer. The help in question involves checking with the school every day for a list of absent kindergarten students, then calling their homes, to make sure the child is safe, then reporting back to the school Not such a big deal.
