Show - 3 THE GREEN SHEET Thursday, December 6, 1984 Spouts Nine Schools Are Represented - 29 Named To Green Sheet's 1984 Honor Grid Squad MURRAY. outstan- Twenty-nin- e ding football players from the nine Green Sheet area schools have been accorded a spot on the 1984 Green Sheet Honor Squad. Nominations for the selections came from the coaching staffs at the nine schools, which included state 4A champion Olympus, Region Three champ Cottonwood, Granger, Granite, Cyprus, all from Region Three, Murray and Judge Memorial from Region Six and Kearns and Taylorsville from Region Two. All positions are represented. Four of the players are repeaters off last years squad and three are juniors. State 4A champion Olympus is represented by six players. Greg Smith, a repeater off last years squad, set a school record last year for defensive points and was clearly the Titan leader again this year, im Oil TOUR AMERICAN despite missing two games with an injury which might have ended the career of a less competitive player. That injury took him out of the Titan offensive backfield, but it was his defense that Coach Louie Long needed most. He intercepted six passes for 124 return yards, including a touchdown in the championship game. Also listed from Olympus were junior quarterback Mark Smith who threw for 2,241 yards while completing 49 percent of 128 passes. s Long calls lineman Bruce Hilton a major college prospect. Wide receiver Brad Gerber had 526 receiving yards and returned punts for a 14.7 average. Shane Larsen had 422 defensive points, four interceptions and two fumble recoveries. Making the Honor Squad for the third year was Mike Wilding, who set a school record with 1,220 yards rushing in nine games.
