Show IB THE GREEN SHEET At Residence In Northwest Granger Thursday, August 2, 1984 - Lawn, Flowers Capture Attention In Chamber Program GRANGER A brick home surrounded by carefully-tende- d lawns, flowers and trees is receiving recognition this week from the West Valley area Chamber of Commerce When we built this home 25 years ago, this was an open area We could see at least four blocks m any direction Now we are surrounded by homes, remarked Ray Wendrich, 3271 So Eskesen (4670 West) The Wendrich front yard gives an illusion of space, with a lawn, border of tarns and a red cedar tree Flowers include a center bed with a concrete rim which holds purple sugar daddy petunias The colorful blooms also surround a flag pole which centers the lawn shape, holds pfitzers, tarns and bar harbor (low growing) pfitzer. The home has two patios, one connected to the house, the other a circular patio shaded by four blue haven spruce A rock garden fills the areas shielded on two sides by block walls, and flowering with canna lilies, red cascade petunias and white petunias on the corners Mr Wendrich and his wife Thelma, who enjoy working in the yard have the help of their 16 year-ol- d grandson, David, who is staying with them this summer The couple has three children and 11 Mr Wendrich retired from on the Amoco, is active part-tim- e West Valley City Planning Commission Both he and his wife enjoy their yard, love to work m it and said they were pleased to receive the award Another bed, elevated about Vk feet and extended into two fingers AWARD WINNER . . .
