' The Lancers will face their biggest challenge of the young season today (Thursday) at 4 p.m. when they host ranked Brighton second the Bengals. Granger will take on Cottonwood Tuesday at home, beginning at 4 p.m. Michelle Jones led the Lancers to victory with a win in the optional parallel bars and a second place finish in the optional category. Teamate Mary Kaye Reese took first in both the optional balance beam and the optional floor excercise, while Michelle Jones and Tami Solomon won the optional parallel bars and the optional vault competitions. In the compulsory category, Nilsa Feliciano took first place in the vault, while Jennifer Crookston and Julie Ferrin won the balance beam and parallel bars events. Class Of 1971 Reigns At MHS MURRAY. The class of 1971 captured top honors in the 13th annual Murray high alumni tournament, besting the 1978 grads 6 in the finale. The consolation crown was claimteam which ed by the 1977-defeated the 1962 grads. Each graduating class from 1964 to 83 was represented in the tournament, with several classes having two teams. Olympus high cagers brought home a trophy from the state basketball tournament. And while it wasnt the gold trophy they had hoped to capture, in coming back to win the consolation chamvictory over a pionship with a Cinderella Granger team, the Titans regained a measure of pride, finishing the season with a flossy 20-- 2 record. The Titans, as they were in two earlier meetings, just had too much size inside for the Lancers to handle. In an overtime thriller, Brightons Bengals captured the state 4A basketball crown here last Wednesday. Both coaches were pleased that three teams from Region Three A were around on the final day. I think it proves people were wrong about our league, Huber commented.
