Show On Display At District Office Aft Hearts Replace Stars On Student -Made Flag HUNTER. Making hearts for a Valentine day project Is a popular occupation In most elementary schools during February, but third grade students at Hunter elementary have taken it a step further, using hearts to create an American flag. The children have been studying a unit on the history of the flag and the Pledge of Allegiance and its meaning. When Granite district officials requested that third graders at the school make a bulletin board for use in the district office, the idea was bom to combine Valentine hearts with the flag, said teacher Sheila Walton. Each student made four or five of the fan-ohearts in red, white or blue. The hearts were then arranged to form the stars and stripes of the In , ", rx ; '"- wy. . ; SfrfS: ,' ' 'i HUNTER.
