But while the physical facility provides the en- vironment in which medicine can be practiced, it is the people staffing the hospital who make it work, Pioneer Valley officials pointed out. The medical staff of the hospital numbers more than 100, with physicians in a wide range of specialties, including emergency room medicine, family practice, internal medicine, obstetrics-gynecolog- y, nuclear medicine, or- thopedics and pediatrics. Chief of the medical staff, Dr. J. David Bane, views the new hospital as both a great opportunity and a great challenge. The opportunity to practice in a beautiful hospital with te equipment will surely make the practice of quality medicine an enjoyable he says. Optask, portunities exist for growth as the medical staff is expanded to accommodate the growing population. Our challenge is to monitor this growth, adding only high quality physicians to our staff.
