You thought it was an odd abbreviation of the state of Utah. The two letters, used that way, are very familiar to me and they mean Utah Territory instead of Utah. I have seen it often on old correspondence of my family and also on micro-filin the Genealogical society files. If you want to find out the approximate date of the picture, I am sure the State Historical Society would have a record of when that photographer had his establishment on Main Street. They are very helpful on matters of this kind. Also, I wonder if your Mary Howard is the same Mary Howard who once worked at the information counter at the Genealogical library. She was so very knowledgeable and helped so very many people with their problems in looking up names' for their records. Perhaps some of your readers will also now know what the U.T. stands for. , W''r' fy The family invites all relatives and friends to share this day with them and requests no gifts. I ... w N. He had a lot of them and some of them had Great Salt Lake City, U.T. (meaning Utah Territory) on the back and some of them had the inscription of City of Deseret, U.T. A lot of them came from a Tin Type photography place in the Zions Mercantile Cooperative Institute Building. We now call it, he laughs, the ZCMI building. Thanks Rollo for your call. A lot of people are like me - long on interest and short on facts. Favorite Legal Secretaries Host "Bosses Night" My The National Association of Legal Secretaries, Salt Lake Chapter, hosted its annual Bosses Night with a dinner banquet at the Fort Douglas Officers Club on March 12. Shred a head of lettuce in the bottom of a salad bowl and add a good layer of corn chips. If you use the small chips use them as is but if you use the large ones, be sure and break them up. Add 3 or 4 cut up green onions, one (if you wish) avocado, cut up, and one tomato also cut into small pieces. Grate Cheddar cheese (a good layer) all over the top of the other layers in the salad bowl. You can fix the salad to this point ahead of time, waiting to the last to finish it up. But be sure to mix the dressing beforehand, too. It is made by mixing Miracle Whip with Chili Sauce, flavored with a whish or two of lemon juice. About 10 minutes (or so) before serving, pour the drained hot hamberger and the drained hot kidney beans over the salad and lightly stir. The heat from the hot meat and beans will melt the layer of cheese as you mix it all up. Top with the salad dressing mixture and prepare to enjoy the whole thing and to have your family ask for you to fix it often.
