Materials are provided This contest goes beyond a school level, with winners going on to district and state. All entries must be your own work; no group entries are allowed. See your teachers in those departments for more information and entry forms and lets have lots of entries from Kearns. Good luck, everyone. For the past few days of vacation the teachers have been planning, plotting and scheming, making up a whole bunch of tests for test week, which will be next week, Monday through Friday. Study hard, teachers may be seeking revenge for some of the rotten things we do to them occasionally, like talking in class (who? me? never!), throwing crumpled paper at the garbage can and missing, etc. If you want to get back at a teacher for those terrible tests, try study ing extra hard before hand. When you end up with an A youll probably surprise the socks off the teacher and those long hours trying to outguess us on the test will all be wasted. As an extra bonus, you get a better grade and even give that teacher a bonus, to correct at least one great paper, so Its hard to get the hang of things after a vacation. teaching thing. starts Homework again and you have to get up ear- theyre someone some- All you guys two-wee- two-wee- k know they The Lancers returned school on Monday k after a great vacation. In the advanced ninth grade class, Mr. Young said the regular art budget cant cover needs of his students. He purchases more expensive paper for their water colors and the acrylic paints are the better grade, for instance. Two projects are involved in the sculpturing. The first specified by Mr. Young is a head of some kind. It doesnt have to be human or even realistic, he explained. The second project is one of the students choosing. Many do cups or mugs, vases or bottle shapes, or some free form. Some choose another head, but different from the first they created. The finished art piece is fired and then taken home by the student. Valley junior high has its own electric kiln, a small size, located in Mr. Youngs room. Four classrooms use the kiln, he said, including the shop and the crafts Y i class. .
