The Franklin Falcons did it again This year Franklin had 112 children as well as 1 members of its staff go on the walkathon The children ranged in ages from 5 to 11 Out of the 112 children who started the 20 mile walk, 92 finished. Tickets are available at the Magic Wand or Provo High School bookstore. ‘Y’ Lamanite Generation Leaves for Sunbelt Tour Membersof Brigham Young University's Lamanite Generation are bringing sunshine to the sunbelt this month as they tour the southern United States and the southwest The internationally known group is spreading its own brandoffriendliness in the Ga of “y'all” through its musical variety show. The 40-member troupe, composed of American Indians, Mexicans and Mexican-Americans, and Polynesians, perform traditional songs and dances from members’ own cultures, as well as colorful, original modern musical and dance numbers Ten members of the group are from Wasatch Front communities. Under the direction of Janie Thompson, a veteran professional performer, BYU students whose ethnic background qualifies them for the lamanite Generation offer choice bits of their own cultures to others. Since 1971, the Lamanite Generation has toured the United States, Canada, South America and Scandinavia. The tour of Scandinavia last summer included performancesat the prestigious Rebild Festival in Aalborg, Denmark; at the famed Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen; and before the queen of Denmarkat her summerresidence. The grouphasalso reached potential audiencesof millionsvia television per- formances in the United States and abroad. In March, the Lamanite Genration completed a 10-day tour into Wyoming, Montana and Cardston, Alberta, Canada. The group was received enthusiastically by Indian and nonin alike.
