Show AGED MAN LOSES REASON one of saddest cases disposed of in the district court in a long time was that of A P erickson ot of elwood who was committed to the state mental hospital at provo on friday last mr mi erickson has not been very kindly dealt with by nature tor for he was a hunchback and had but one eye despite these infirmities he was a hard working man an honorable citizen and a good father and neighbor his mental organs collapsed on friday ath dinst and each day his condition grew more aggravated until he became violent his family did everything they could to assist him in the hope that his reason would return but he grew steadily worse until it became necessary to place him in an institution where he could be taken care of he was accordingly brought to brigham on thursday evening and on friday appeared before judge call who committed him to the mental hospital Il the poor man could not cease talking and chattering and he roundly berated his son and the officials for suspecting him as having lost his reason lie he talked rapidly and incoherently until great beads of perspiration stood out on his features and he was wholly exhausted but he could not stop during the night before his arraignment he had to be quieted by the administration of an opiate and during his examination in the court room he kept up his rapid chattering in loud tones many an eye grew moist as the little man was all but carried out ol of the court house by his son and deputy sheriff zundel he was taken down to provo last week |
