The Darts came out roaring as they built up a strong 17--9 lead at the end of the first period and things went downhill from there for the Utes. Uintah is coached by Ron Moore w ho coached at Centerville Jr. and Bountiful High. THINGS LOOKED like a re- peat for Jeff Emery, who had an off night shooting in the Highland loss, as he missed on his first three shots but then hit the fourth w hich was a twisting that hit fall away nothing but net. From then on the senior sharpshooter went on to pour in a game high 26 points despite sitting out most of the last quarter. The big quarter for the Davis five came in the second period when they raced away from the Utes outscoring them 5 on the shooting of Emery and ANOTHER standout player was guard Glenn ArneU who handled the ball well on the Uintah press and penetrated their zone and dished out many assists. When Emery was covered the shooting went to Pat McGill who can also light it up, he finished with 10 points most Qgjjjli rtEfiaQEB (HMEOlMi rrBffHD 32-3- RsH Eauils En n Eon By DAVE W IGIIAM of which came in the second half. , Brent Padilla had a super night as he scored 15 in the winning eflort. W ITH MOST of the final period being what is termed in the big time as garbage time the fouls were aplenty and foul shooting was the order of the day. When the dust had cleared the Darts had been to the line 35 times and connected on 19 of them while the Utes were there a total of 28 times and hit on 20 of them. The win sent the Darts into s of the consolathe tion bracket in their battle for fifth place in this tournament. Basketball Tournament SALT LAKE CITY As little as the Davis coaches knew about their opponents for the night they were well aware of the fact that the Red Devils of Springville had a great delay game if they got a lead. AFTER ALL this team had delayed their way past a very tough Provo club in their league action. They had lost to Viewmont in the opening round but had since won and were heading straight for the Darts. Davis managed to stay close in the first half but in the second half when the Red Devils did get the lead they did indeed show the fans their patented four corner type of delay. Davis chased and fouled with the Devils hitting from the foul line to pull away with a 2 victory over the Darts. THIS WAS the second loss for the Darts and sent them back to Kaysville with a good showing in the state event. The third period was the start of the delay game and the Darts were placed in the role of having to chase the Devils in their four corner look. The result was another low scoring period. FOURTH quarters are PRING usually the low scoring of the four when the delay type games are plaed but in this one the final period turned into the high scoring affair as both clubs went to the foul line. When it was over the Darts had hit on 22 of 34 attempts while their opponents were good on 15 of 27. In the final stages of the game both coaches opted to go to their benches and give the underclass people some playing time for next season.
