AN EXTENSIVE investigation by the Sheriff s Office of Internal Affairs, Davis County Attorneys Office and the Utah State Attorney Generals Office gave the officers a clean slate in regard to procedures used in the drug investigations and arrests. This announcement came as no surprise in that the efforts of the Strike Force in working narcotics was continually monitored by administrative personnel in the Sheriffs Office and by the Davis County Attorneys Office, said Sheriff Brant Johnson. Much time was spent in preparation of training narcotics officers to work within the framework of the law. 4 THE past eight months of intensive investigation into drugs in Davis county and due to the investigation into allegations of wrong doing. 1 have never been more convinced that a small percent of our community is creating much disruption and heartache in families and school settings by introducing and providing illegal drugs. He added that public support that has been received toward our efforts has been overwhelming. THANKS TO a new telephone service installed last summer incorporating a wide array of telephone services for ME ARE now even more those within the hospital and a recent change in the hospital's DURING th dedicated to working illegal drug violations and will continue to strongly enforce the narcotic laws in Davis County, the sheriff concluded. BETTER PHONE SERVICE OGDEN Patrons needing to telephone Ogdens McKay-De- e Hospital should notice faster, more efficient response from operators. telephone number, service should be improved all the way around, says James L. Stewart Jr., hospital controller, of Farmington. That telephone ribmber the first in nearly 30 change 1 from to years probably raised a few eyebrows. But it was necessary, Mountain Bell said, to increase the signal transmitted by their lines into the hospitals private phone system. 399-414- 627-280- 0, AND W HAT that should mean to patrons calling in is faster response by operators who often did not know a call was coming in because of a ghost line that would register a ring to the patron but not Chief Operator Beth Lockwood shows ease with which new McKay-De- e Hospitals phone system functions. at the hospital switchboard. The new number should eliminate that, Mr. Stewart says. Operators can tell when a call is coming in because calls are shown on a small console that blinks a light whenever a call comes in. And operators have ready access to a computer terminal giving constant updates on patient information, making for faster handling of calls, Mr. Stewart explains. THE HOSPITAL contracted for a private telephone service from Rolm. a firm that provides facilities for the Weber State College and St. Benedicts Hospital, for example. The switch has already allowed for a reduction of about $50,000 in telephone budget while allowing for add- itional extensions and calling services such as conference, call waiting and automatic call transfer. Other than getting em- ployees used to the new system. Mr. Stewart said he had received no major complaints, tb |
