The wreath contains four candles, one being lit on the first Sunday of Advent (Nov. 30 this year), two the next Sunday, three the next and four the... Sunday before Christmas. Tis the season to be jolly! and one of the best ways to achieve this happy feeling is to attend Ballet Wests OIR CHURCHES teach Nut-crack- er ballet. that one should prepare for (he advent of the Savior on the 25th; in some there are elaborate rituals. But there is doubt when the practice began. Aside from prescribed rituals, the custom of using a wreath with four candles has been adopted by more and more Americans, of all faiths, just as Santa Claus comes into almost every home. School,- - daughter of Norman and Vannene Parting- ton of Fruit Heights, is a member of the Small Star drill team and was chosen for the second year to be a buffoon. Joy Amcll. a 6th grader at Farmington Elem. is a daughter of Ailcen and Elw in Amcll of Farmington. She is a member of the All Star drill team and was chosen to be a little girl. Joy has performed in the Nutcracker before. UZA STEVENS, a 4th grader at Knowlton Elementary and the daughter of Clyde and, Carolyn Stevens of Farming-- , ton will make her lint appearance as a buffoon. She is also a member of the small star drill 1 team. The Nutcracker will play at the Capitol Theatre in Salt Lake City beginning Dec. 18, through Dec. 30. It will also be at the Fine Arts Center at Weber State College in Ogden, the Fine Arts Bldg, in Logan and also in Provo during the Christmas holidays. ! TREE FOR FESTIVAL The Kaysville 15th Ward Young Women, under the direction of Mrs. Patty Hartley, are shown putting the finishing touches on the Christmas tree they decorated for the Festival of Trees to be held in the Salt Palace. Sisneros, Joey Ieremia, and Stacy Malone. had a near perfect season with 15 wins, one tie, no losses, for the year (spring and fall), conbaaed their winding streak r during the tournament play winning five games and losing only one to come up on top. The last day of the tourna ment saw the "Red Devils defeating first the Side then the Spikers (2-and finally having to defeat the Cobras twice, first by and finally by Win--de- (2-0- ), rs 0) 8-- 0 3-- 1. THE FALCONS were ele- - minated earlier in tournament play. First and second place trophies were presented to the Red Devils and the Cobras by George Blamires, regional commissioner.
