ACCORDING to a hivtory of the building, compiled by Frank D. Adams for the de dication of the new chapel, the building contained 20 carloads Five carloads of cement, nine carload of cinders and 8 carloads of lumber. It required 23,000 hours of labor to construct the building. David 0. Green contributed 180 days of labor. The total cost of the building of gravel. and furnishings was approximately $75,000. The church paid 60 percent of this amount and the ward paid the remaining 40 percent. WILLIAM Burton was the ward bishop at the time the J. building was constructed. E.G. King was general chairman of building operations, and William A. Dawson, finance chairman, later became the bishop of the ward. Mr. Dawson became a U.S. Senator from Utah, and other members of the finance committee were Frank D. Adams, David E. Layton, D.D. Harris, Hacel W. Nalder and Edward Simpson.
