It would seem that with such dedication to this cause all women would be beautiful and slender. Statistics show weakness or temptation is far the winning apple. In the resistance and restraint category, men show a definate lack of this ability. Though few will admit it, a man would literally die before he would give up his woman. Once more, he prefers-hiwoman to be femine, soft, sweet smelling and SLENDER. That word slender presents a roblem to many of us women, omen also desire to please their men by being slender, but those bad apples keep getting in the way. Avoid crash diets. Not only are they hazardous to your health, but they will not give you lasting results. We Americans today are what we eat, and unfortunately our diets consist mostly of foods high in carbohydrates junk food. This only puts fat on our frame, with very little protein, a major nutrient. 9. A safe, sound and gradual weight is recommended. If loss program your calorie intake is limited to 1,000 and calories simple per day carbohydrates such as starches and sugars are kept to a minimum or eliminated entirely, you can usually trim those pounds and inches. A loss of two to four pounds per week is a sound loss and will keep your skin taut and more firm. 10. YOU ARE NOT ALONE. It has been estimated that at any given time some 10 to 20 million Americans are dieting in order to lose weight. (And millions more should be.) SO HANG IN THERE! Anything worth having is worth working for. Remember, you must EAT, SLEEP and THINK THIN. Weight control can sometimes be a discouraging problem. It is most essential to convince the subconscious mind or portray to it these desires. The mind can actually be programmed like a computer to get our wants across, form habits and make them a reality. In other words, the dieter must think thin, act thin, walk thin, sleep thin and of course eat thin. The subconcious mind, or the heart, is very susceptible to our thoughts. Whatever the mind of man can conceive, he can achieve." If our mind is programmed with 'negative thoughts, then that is what we will live with. But, if success is what we want and we really desire to be thin and attractive, then program the mind with success as though the positive has already happened. The self image must first change in the heart and then in the mind. Desires become reality as habits change. Hence, the attitude must be right! If our attitude is not right, we will never, never succeed at losing weight and keeping it off. So lets make our attitude right! We must first learn to love ourselves (not the vain, love) but, as God made us. We are one of a very special kind, we are unique, an original Rembrandt worth millions! There is no one in the world just like us. Sure, we may face challenges, but if we use them as stepping stones, these make us will only challenges stronger. Its a real good idea to sit down in a quiet place where we have time to meditate and contemplate. Start but by writing down our good features,: then write down things we can make better by positive change and never dwelling on the negative. But, set goals realistic enough that we can reach them, yet high enough we have to work for them. Now, lets ask ourselves what were seeking from food that isnt there, and then proceed to look for satisfaction from life and not from food. Life can be very satisfying and much happier if we will follow these nine rules. 4. Today I will try to live through this day only, and not try to overcome all my problems at once. 2. Especially when it could be compared to the painful withdrawal process a drug addict goes through to kick the habit. Whether the craving is narcotics, alcohol, or just plain food, is involved. Face it many of us are foodaholics and we must treat ourselves as such. If we have a weight problem today, we will always have a weight problem. Only, when our attitude about eating changes and we choose foods more selectively, can we accomplish our weight loss goal and remain there. It is important to remember that when we are setting our goals, we need to set them within our reach. Then, lets set out to attain those goals. A good suggestion is that the goals be broken into smaller ones. Then, each time we reach a small goal, we feel good about ourselves, and should reward ourselves with anything BUT food! We must program our minds to change our eating habits. If we eat right, we will weigh right. We can then be losing by choice, not gaining by chance. We are in command. There does not seem to be an ideal or exact formula for weight control and health that fits everyone. However, research does show that there are some basics" that seem to fit everyone who really wants to control her weight and improve her health. such as Make natural foods vegetables, fruits, whole grain breads and cereals, lean meats and poultry, milk, cheese, yogurt, fish and dried almost the fruits and vegetables total of your food consumption. Eliminate fats, sugar, salt, coffee, tea, soft drinks, and alcohol from your diet. Get more exercise on a daily basis, even if it is only more walking. This may be difficult career and family considering schedules,' but it is an important con- sideration, because what you eat after 4:00 p.m. usually adds the pounds, since you are less active after that time. 3. Make sure your weight loss program includes a balanced amount of protein, carbohydrates, unsaturated oils, vitamins, and minerals.
