Weaver, director of the Clearfield Distribution Center of the Defence Mapping Agency, has been given the honor of the highest civilian award provided by the agency. He has served as the centers director since 1974 and has been presented with the DMA Meritorious Civilian Service Award presented by the DMA office of Distribution Services at Bethesda Naval Hospital Center in Bethesda, Md. in July. MR. WEAVER, a native Laytonite, was presented this award for exemplary accom- plishments of his assigned duties resulting in increased effectiveness in distribution of DMA products to worldwide customers. Francis X. Hughes, chief of the distribution operations department of the Office of Distribution Servies, noted that the Clearfield Center has consistently exceeded expectations in much of its work. The center has excelled in many areas as supply effectiveness measurements and in accomplishment of special projects assignment pertaining to development of workload reporting standards, implementing new organizational structures, planning, supply modifications to automated data pro- mum cessing systems and other comparable projects. THE DMA center in Clearfield serves as a major supply, storage and distribution center of DMA materials, most of which take the form of maps. The maps handled by the center are used to supply the De- partment, of Defense and other government agencies, commercial sales agents, friendly foreign governments and private concerns or individuals in the area west of the Mississippi River, to the west coast of India. It is one of 14 DMA distribution facilities throughout the world and has a staff of 70 to 80 permanent employees and 15 e to 20 who serve as employees.
