JUST AS Murray was bringing North Davis Jr. High football out of obscurity and onto a winning track, budget cuts forced the fall sport out of the junior highs in Davis County. So for a year, Murray and the north ninth graders did without the gridiron sport, settling mostly for an extra long wrestling season. BUT IN recent weeks Murray has been added to the Fal- con coaching staff to assist Coach Craig Hansen in handling the sophomore team. Murray is a football person and we all like his enthusiasm." said Hancock last week, Craig really ought to help our sophomores, having alieady worked with them on the junior high level. TVE ALWAYS had the attitude a head coach should try to surround himself with the best he can find and those who want to be head coaches. Murray fits that mold, stated the fifth year coach. I once mentioned to Hancock to keep me in mind if something opened at the high school. I thank him for remembering me, said Murray. FOOTBALL has been as much a part of Murrays ingredient in life as anything. Before high school, through his prep years, in the Army, in college Craig Murray of North Davis Junior High will move up to Clearfield High each afternoon to assist Craig Hansen with the Falcon sophomores. Murray is pictured here with Clearfields head football coach, Brent Hancock. A brand new season opens this Friday as Viewmont invades Clearfield. MOST OF the kids that play on the sophomore team have a pretty good raport with me and I suppose a little respect. It has to be a plus for me and the staff at the high school tto be able to know the kids here and see them again at Clearfield when they can finally play football, says Murray. Craig played his early foot- ball days at Morton High School in Wyoming before moving to South Cache High his senior season. He earned a scholarship to USU but changed his mind and joined the Army. His two years in the Army were filled with plenty of football with USU following him all the way. He joined forces with the Aggies and grew to love his stay under Tony Knapp and the rest of the Aggie personnel. SAN DIEGO of the NFL and Decking Decking y 2x4 a team from the Canadian Football League drafted Murray upon graduation. Murray chose the CFL and described his stay in Canada as a good life, but a hard way to make a 2x6 V" 4x4 buck." He retired from in 1969 and attended BYU.
