FOR THOSE who didn't really get to know him. they'll at least be able to relive Brians man accomplishments on the basketball floor. It might be the outburst of points he pumped in during the L A state tout nament as a junior or they might remember the 40 points he tallied against Bountiful this past year iq the Dart's dramatic win over the Braves. But for those who did know Brian, namely his coaches, teammates and classmates, they will remember Brian's and carefree lifestyle. He simply loves life and isn't afraid to have some fun while living it. fun-lovi- s EVEN THOUGH Brian has had to make important decisions about his future education and basketball career, he still manages to smile at school and hit the tennis courts every chance he gets. He will continue his education and continue to perfect his skills on the basketball court. "At school I tried to be myself as much as possible, but when I got home, I had to spend some serious moments thinking about what would be right for me. It was never "easy." continued Brian. said Mrs. Taylor. COACH ROGER Reid, who had a lot to do with Taylor's signing with the Cougars, stated. "We are very excited about Brian coming to Provo to attend BYU. We worked very hard to show him what we had here. "Personally. I like Brian's kind of character, not just on the basketball court, but off. Of course he is a tremendous basketball player and we expect him to have a great career with us over the next four seasons." REID SAID Taylor's signing concluded a very successful recruiting season. The "Y" also signed Brett Applegate. Alan Pollard. Chris Nikchavich and Jim Usevich. Devin Dur-rawill also be coming back to BYU basketball after having served a two year mission for the LDS Church. See TAYLOR on Sports page 3. HIS PARENTS tried for the most part to leave the decision making up to their son. Mrs. Marie Taylor, Brians mother, commented. We often told Brian that whatever decision he made, we'd support him all the way. "1 had attended the "U" and Lowell, my husband had played one year of basketball at BYU . To us, either place was going to be good. "I THINK Brian had his heart set on BYU long ago but at the last minute, Utah came into the picture. They (Utah) did a fantastic job in recruiting and because of that Brian was forced to take a second look in his decision making." said Mrs. Taylor. One respected event is the annual Davis High Invitational Track and Field meet, just like Flint is respected as an individual, so is this prestigious high school sporting event. For the past 25 years competitors from all over the state have flocked to this extravaganza of high school speed and brawn. THE BOOKLET holds a message from Flint himself, and one from the assistant coach. It is filled with inspirational hints on how the team can continue the traditions Clearfield has made in this spring sport. ' The page that interested me most is one entitled "Clearfield Pride." It was written by Ffmt himself and says: "I MAY COMPETE against someone better than 1 am, but I'll never compete against one who is going to be in better condition. I never ran against a man in my life I felt was in better shape. For an athlete to function properly, he must be intent.
