IT IS important that, following a successful CPR effort, the victim be hospitalized for a period of time to determine the severity of the illness. Anyone who has experienced an absence of breathing, or cardiac arrest, has obviously undergone serious illness and requires intense cardiac and respiratory studies. In addition, he should embark on a rehabilitative program in an effort to prevent recurrence of his illness. Medical statistics show that cardiac survivors are most vulnerable to sudden cardiac death within the first year after their initial attack. HODGES works hard to make guests feel welcome. She graciously shares her talents and experiences with others.. ., Mr. and Mrs. Hodges grew up in the Smithfield area of Northern Utah. After Mr. Hodges completed his education in the electrical engineering field, the couple lived in many cities before settling in Syracuse over 20 years ago. , THEY RAISED a family of five children. Three are married. One is planning to be married soon and one is attending BYU. Mr. and Mrs. Hodges have seven grandchildren that are all under 5Vi years of age. Acceptance into their Syracuse neighborhood came quickly to the Hodges family. Their friendly attitude and willingness to become part of the community won them a special place in the community. Mrs. Hodges searched for many years before she found this delicious rice pudding recipe. RICE PUDDING lb. CREAMY Yti. cup uncooked rice, washed 3 cups boiling water lVi teaspoon salt 1 can Eagle Brand sweetened milk Vi cup seedless raisins (optional) 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla extract A tsp.. nutmeg Vi 48 OZ. 25 OFF LABEL WESSON OIL IN A HEAVY saucepan, combine rice, water and salt; cover. Cook over medium heat until water boils. Reduce heat, simmer 15 minutes or until rice is tender. Remove from heat. Stir in sweetened condensed milk and raisins. In a small-siz- e bowl beat eggs just until blended. Gradually k add beaten eggs to mixture; stir briskly. Return to low heat; stir constantly until mixture coats a metal spoon. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla extract and nutmeg. If desired, serve hot or chilled. This cookie recipe is a Donna Faye original. TODAY, JERE Hodges is a counselor in the Syracuse Stake LDS Presidency. Donna Faye is the home management and beautification leader in her ward Relief Society. She volunteers to be a hostess at the Relief Society Building in Salt Lake City one day every other week. This job gives Donna Faye the opportunity to meet hundreds of people from all over the world. Raising a family of five children has created the desire in Donna Faye to excell in homemaking skills. She is an excellent seamstress and enjoys making clothes for herself, her children and grandchildren. Donna Faye makes her own drapes. She recently completed a beautiful patchwork, king-siz- e bedspread that took endless hours to design and sew but is a striking addition to her home decor. AT CHRISTMAS time, Donna Faye d chocolates. treats herfamily to She learned this art from a neighbor who lived near her in Salt Lake. A class at Clearfield High School Community School and demonstrations in Relief Society have helped her perfect chocolate dipping. Donna Faye makes a variety of centers but her favorites are carmels and coconut. Homemade bread is another cooking speciality Mrs. Hodges has developed to please herfamily members. Donna Faye makes 10 loaves of bread at a time. She freezes the bread that isnt used up immediately. It takes about four hours to prepare this amount of bread. Other things can be done while the bread is rising. CHOCOLATE ROLL (Ice Box Roll Cookie) Dough: cream together 3 cups brown sugar, 3 cups granulated sugar, 3 cups shortening. Add 9 eggs, 3 teaspoons soda, Vi teaspoon salt, 1 tsp. vanilla. Beat well. Add 12 cups flour. Mix together and divide into 2 parts, roll out 'A inch thick and spread with about 4 cups melted chocolate chips. Use a rubber spatula. Work quickly. Roll up like a , jelly roll, wrap in wax paper than foil. Chill overnight in the fridge. Slice lA inch thick and bake at 350 until light brown. Let the meat stand in mixture overnight. Fry 2 or 3 minutes. This Au Gratin Potato recipe has a special taste. It is easy to prepare and is served by Mrs. Hodges for special events. Mix: 4 cups flour 5 cups hot water ' Add: 2 Tablespoons salt 1 cup oil 1 cup sugar cup warm water with 2 Tablespoons yeast ' Mix well Add 9 cups more flour at intervals.
