Joint memorial services were held Friday, Jan. 7, 1983 at the Hill Air Force Base Chapel for Master Sgt. James Barry Jr. and Master Sgt. Julia Barry of 1909 N. 2700 E., Layton. THE COUPLE died of inin an automobile accident that occurred Tuesday, Jan. 4, 1983 on Highway 89 in Layton. KATIE CHRISTENSEN Katie Ashby Christensen, 86, died at the South Davis Community 4, 1983. Hospital on Jan. SHE WAS born on May 23, 896 at Holden, Utah, a daughter of Melissa Leavines Cole1 man and William Hardin Ashby. She. lived in Bountiful during 1912 and 1913. She married Henry Everett Christensen at Clearfield on March 16, 1916 and moved to a homestead on Ute Indian land at Neola, Utah where she lived until 1926. The family then moved to Ogden and lived briefly at Slaterville and Wilson Lane in Weber County. IN 1930 they settled in Syracuse, Davis County where she lived until 1950 when she moved to Layton where she resided until the time of her Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Stewart M. (Esther) Anderson, Roy; Mrs. J.A. (Virginia) Jessup and Mrs. J.C. (Mary) Nelson, both Ogden; she was preceded in death by two sons, four brothers and one sister. FUNERAL services were held Jan. 8 at the Lindquist Kaysville Mortuary with Bishop Eldon Sill of the Layton 6th Ward conducting. Family prayer was offered by a son, Vernon A. Christen- He had been stationed at Edwards Air Force Base prior to being assigned to Hill Air Force Base. He was a at HAFB. load-mast- er HE ENTERED the military service in March of 1966. He had served in the Vietnam War. He was a veteran of 16 years in the Air Force. He was a member of the Catholic Church. SURVIVING are his parents of Geneva, 111.; one brother and two sisters, Jeff Barry, Jill niece, Gerilyn Sant and a neighbor Harris Adams. SPEAKERS were Ralph Price, a friend; Joe Love, a neighbor and Bishop Eldon Sill. Benediction was offered by Jay Love, a neighbor. Organ music was rendered by Doneta Gatherum. The grave was dedicated by a grandson, David L. Jones. Pallbearers were Barry and Neil Jones, Carl Nelson, a nephew; Glenn Whitsel, family friend; Charles Maughan and Leonard Hudson, neighbors. SHE WAS stationed at Edwards Air Force Base before she received a transfer to Hill Air Force Base several months ago. She was a Protestant. Ila V. Hedgepeth Burton, 70, of 185 S. 300 E., Kaysville, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 1983 after a lingering illness. MRS. BURTON was born March 15, 1912 in Columbiana, Alabama, a daughter of Edward Clifton and Josie B. Henderson Hedgepeth. She married Sherman L. Burton on Dec. 18, 1929 in Farmington. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. SHE LIVED in Alabama for five years, in Farmington for 12 years and in Kaysville for 53 Remarks, Bishop Larry Streadbeck; speaker, Wayne K. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. SHE WAS reared in Salt Lake City and graduated from East High School. She attended the University of Utah. She had lived in Layton for the past 32 years. SHE WAS a member of the Layton 22nd LDS Ward. She had served as president of the Primary, the Young Womens Association and the Relief Ray S.
