Team of consultants U V Hospital announces plans for more emergency services The Sanpete Valley Hospital has announced that, as a result of its continued commitment to meeting the medical needs of the residents of the Sanpete Valley, it has implemented a new program for providing emergency room services. ; The program, which has been in effect since March 1, 1984 includes the contracted coverage for peak hours as well as a revised coverage system for other times. Hospital Administrator Joe May reports that the new system was developed directly from the input of board members, community leaders, and users of the services concerning the needs of the munity. According to May, the new policy eliminates physicians covering the emergency room from other communities and will thus greatly improve response time, and reduce waiting time for patients. I The hospital has contracted with Skyline Emergency Associates, a local physicians group, for 60 hours e of continuous physician of the emergency staffing ment from 6 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday throughout the year. During this time, a physician will be present in the hospital emergency department and will respond to all on-sit- arrivals. These hours represent the peak utilization of the emergency department, according to Bruce Burnham, MD President of Skyline Emergency Associates. During the remaining hours of the week, Ephraim physicians will now be taking their usual evening call (6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday and Thursday) in the hospital. All other emergency room coverage will be provided by Mt. Pleasant physicians from their offices or homes and will be readily available to the hospital. Dr. Burnham noted that this means there will be a physician on duty at the hospital 84 hours per week with physicians in town and readily available the remaining 84 hours. Mr. May noted that if community support is forthcoming it may be possible to expand the onsite coverage to other days of the week as well. Dr. Burnham stressed that patients sill have the choice of seeing the emergency department physician or their family physician during periods covered by the contract services. Both men agreed that the new service is a step forward for meeting the medical needs of residents of the valley. analyze Thistle slide 50'xl00'xl4' Structure.... 40'x80'xl 4' Structure OFFER EXPIRES AAAY 18, 1984 Mm IncMesi J030 looting SPRING TIRE SALE 10 DAYS ONLY Everyone Welcome! cant beat the them now.
