Yvonne Hansen, Ftn. Green, was elected as representative from the Southwest District on the State Advisory Council. Mary Herring was honored as the Salute to Excellence Leader from Sanpete County at the banquet Friday night. Workshops on many phases of were presented on Friday and Saturday. Linda Miller, Mayfield, conducted a workshop on Leadership Styles, and Yvonne Hansen conducted a workshop on Creative Arts. Jennifer Hansen, together with 4-- 4-- 4-- other state ambassadors, presented a report on the Washington D.C. conference which they had attended. had displays and also gave demonstrations. Leisl Hansen and Anna Beck modeled in the Fashion Show which culminated the leader event. Francis Peel was the Leadermete chairman from Sanpete County, assisted by Kay Jensen and Marilyn Stewart. Jerry Lynn Lloyd attended as key leader for computer for the record books. Safety demonstrations were given at the Project Fair Saturday by a group from Mayfield. 4-- 4-- 4-- Elementary teacher is named new principal Kirk M. Anderson, a teacher in the the Manti Elementary School, will Kirk Andwrson A Dairy Princess and four attendants will be selected to represent the dairy industry . in Sanpete County and to represent the county in the state competition. Political parties set conventions become the principal of that school as BY BRUCE JENNINGS The Sanpete County Dairy Princess Pageant will be held Thursday, May 14th in the Gunnison Valley High School Auditorium. the replacement for Kenneth Graham, who is taking early retirement. Mr. Anderson was the choice of the selection committee and his formal appointment to the position is expected when the school board meets next month. Mr. Anderson is a graduate of Gunnison Valley High School, attended Snow College, received his bachelor's degree in elementary education from South Utah State College and a masters degree in elementary administration from Brigham Young University. He has also had special training in mathematics and remedial reading, has been president of the South Sanpete Teachers Assn, and held other professional leadership positions. He is also active in the LDS Church and civic programs. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson are the parents of three children and make their home in Mayfield. Sanpete Republicans will meet May 15 at 8 p.m. at the county courthouse with Nancy Jensen, county chairman, conducting. Sanpete Democrats will gather at the courthouse on May 19 at 8 p.m. under the direction of Demont Howell, county chairman. Delegates to both conventions will elect a chairman, a vice chairman, a secretary and a treasurer. Sons of Utah Pioneers will meet A meeting of the Sanpete Chapter of the Utah Pioneers for all members and prospective members will be held in the Ephraim Public Library at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 1987. Officers from the national headquarters will conduct the meeting, the purpose of which is to install chapter officers and set up the program for Sanpete County. All men who are interested in perpetuating the ideals of their pioneer ancestry are encouraged to attend the meeting.
