The experiences of variety in the lives of the faculty members at the Ephraim Institute was indeed very real. .From the weather to the inauguration of Pres. Gerald Day of Snow College, to the annual Utah South Area closing inservice convention, held at Bryce Canyon this past weekend, to the final performance of the LD Singers in concert at the Ephraim Institute all helped pack full a week of variety and productive experience. The Inauguration, A Delight! Snow The College performance, the audience showed great appreciation for the climate inside the Ephraim Institute Cultural Hall on Saturday, April 28th. The final performance of the 1990 Spring Concert of the LD Singers was given to a capacity crowd of parents, many of whom travelled from the Salt Lake City area and other relatively distant cities and towns. Again, we extend our sincere appreciation for all the IDs, individually and collectively. As a faculty and staff we are most appreciative for our brother, David R. Willmore, indeed someone in whom we can surely be pleased and thankful we have to provide such inspired leadership and talent in this special part of our institute program at Snow College. Presidential Inauguration Planning Committee, not forgetting the subcommittees, can all pat themselves on the back for the splendid job they did in carrying out the general events of the inauguration of the new college President, Gerald Day, now officially the 13th president of Snow College. With the many details this past week at the ceremonies related to and an integral part of the inauguration, we of the Ephraim LDS Institute of Religion wish to extend our commendation to all involved in this special event FRIDAY FORUM President and Chief Operating Officer of Olympus Capital Corporation, Salt Lake City, will be the speaker at Friday Forum on May 4, 1990 at 12:30 p.m. at the Ephraim LDS Institute. The title of his talk will be, Experiences of My Grandfather LeGrand Richards." The public is invited. - Inservice One hundred fifty CES teachers and wives in the Utah South Area of the Church were hosted in the convention facilities at Rubys Inn near Bryce Canyon this past Friday evening and Saturday morning. The teachers and spouses received insight and counsel from the author and .Professional Marriage Counselor, Dr. Taylor Hartman. Mr. Hartman is author of the publication, Know Your True Color. Not only was the counsel given as helpful for spouses and family relationships; but most teachers will agree that they can surely benefit by better understanding that each student is charactered sometimes a little differently than the norm and sometimes much different than his classmates. Most instructors seemed to be very appreciative of this special training. POSTMASTER: Send eddreee change to: Manti Maaeenger, Senior Writer, Editor This letter is concerning the county elections to be held soon. I am concerned about public participation in the elections. Imagine for a moment how life would be in a country where of many other countries have never experienced. We should use the freedoms given to us to run in elections rather than to apply for a job" so to speak. For example, in a neighboring community, one man has been uncontested as county sheriff for three terms, automatically keeping his position. Instead of running for his office again, you could say he is just reapplying for his job." We need to be more involved in politics. We need to run for public offices. The cities will get the following amounts in county money: Manti, $3,540; Ephraim, $3540; Gunnison, $7,050; Mt. Pleasant, $2,967; Ftn. Green, $1,990; Fairview, $4,224; Moroni, $5,480; and Spring City, $1,209. The arrangement is to the advantage of both the county and the cities, officials pointed out Because the county is legally obligated to provide the fire protection to its unincorporated, contracting with the cities for that service, saves the county the expense of maintaining its own fire department, with the attendant costs for employees and equipment And its advantageous to the cities, which are required to provide fire protection within their boundaries because they have additional money to keep their equipment updated.
