Evan has a strong pioneer heritage; his grandparents settled Manti under the direction of Brigham Young in 1849 and 1853. He was born in Manti and lived there all his life. As a turkey rancher, he was one of the original incorporators of the Moroni Feed Coop in 1937, and as a member of the Board of Directors, he was influential in starting the hatchery, the breeding flocks, and the marketing department He was also active in city government as a Manti City Councilman for four years. He enjoyed a life long activity of square dancing which he started in 1955. Evan and Mildred attended the National Squaredance Jamborees in M. Johnson California, Kentucky, Iowa, Colorado, and Utah. He loved to be out of doors, and especially enjoyed deer hunting, pitching horseshoes, engineering and inventing. He was very mechanical and had a keen awareness of how things worked. After retiring from turkey ranching, he built his own house in 1977. He is survived by his wife; children: Janet Peters, Ogden; Philip, Mt. Pleasant; Carl, Salt Lake; Camille Larsen, Manti; Faye Mower, Grantsville; Evalyn Christensen, Salt Lake; sisters, Vera Mills, Austin, TX; Ruth Peterson and brother Robert Johnson, 24 Manti; grandchildren; and 25 greatgrandchildren. Preceded in death by five sisters, three brothers, daughter, Yvonne, and two great- grandchildren. Tuttle, Midvale.
