Christiansen, a native of Mayfield, has been named director of the d newly-forme- Technical Analysis and Information Center at Dugway Proving Ground. Dr. Christiansen was born and raised in Mayfield, attended Manti High School, Snow College, Utah State University and received his doctorate degree at Iowa State University. His wife is the daughter of Mrs. Lida Edmunds of Manti. The new director has been a physical scientist at Dugway for the past five years, and recently was a project coordinator. This Joint Chiefs of Staff project has the mission to solve operational problems with fielded equipment for the armed forces with worldwide responsibilities. One of the centers major projects was the modernization of defensive weapons for and 6 aircraft. The project involved resources from Dugway Proving Ground, Tooele Army Depot, Hill Air Force Base, Eglin AFB, Fla. and Nellis AFB, Nev. F-1- 5 F-1- The service Dugway Proving Ground provides to the joint services will continue to be essential to the deterrent effectiveness of the armed forces, Christiansen said. His organization directs the . installations Technical Information Center, Computer Automated ChemBio Data Library, Foreign Intelligence Office and the Special Security Office. Dr. Christiansen receives guidance from the Pentagon Joint Staff in Washington, DC. His office coordinates defensive testing for four branches of the armed forces. During the past two years he has reported test results to the Defense Department in the Pacific, Central and Western Commanders-in-Chie- Europe, f the Pentagon, and Southern Commands.
