Show Messenger-Enterpris- e, a Snow professor edits poetry book More than 80 years of poetry writing has come to life thanks to the work of Snow College History Professor K. Michael Seibt. He has edited a new book author. of poetry by a The book, After Many Million Heartbeats, is a collection of ld works by Myrtle Marmaduke. Last year Marie Seibt contacted by a publisher in Salt Lake City who wanted to get his opinion on some poetry. When they asked me to read some I asked if I could take it with me and read it when I had some leisure time, so I could really enjoy it, said Seibt. It didnt take long to find out how good Ms. Marmaduke really was. First I had to decide if the poetry Forest Service will conduct controlled burn in 6-M- ile The Sanpete Ranger District, National Forest, to regenerate aspen in plans Canyon, east of Sterling, by prescribed burning of Manti-LaS- Six-Mi- al le approximately 800 acres of mixed conifer dominated stands this fall. The Forest Service will use fire as a management tool to improve quaking aspen and reduce conifer invasion in these areas. The bum will increase forage and livestock, reduce fire hazard by eliminatingdown material that could result in serious wildfire, and increase the amount of water produced for wildlife by this watershed. The project will be conducted when the appropriate conditions occur this fall. If the burn occurs duringahunting season, Forest Service personnel will be in the area to monitor the burn and inform the public. The Forest Service anticipates that this bum will take place during the week of October 20. The overall effect of the bum will be to enhance the resource for ail Forest users. He said the secret of life is finding what you love to do and being good at it. Seibt spent 14 years in the history department at Brigham w pj, Young University prior to coming to Ephraim last year. After completing BA and MA degrees at the University of Utah and earning his PhD from University of Oregon Seibt spent several years in the business world as a vice president of a promotion and marketing firm. 20. Regional The Child Abuse Prevention Team had a very successful fund raiser for the education and prevention of child abuse recently, when 45 people on saddled horses began a trek up the mountain trails above Ephraim. They came from as far away as 553 miles to join in the Ride Along. People of varying ages joined the group, thp youngest beingnine months .d, and already a veteran horse rider, and the oldest being 71 years old.
