With his sweetheart, Carol, and church leader, Elliott Riley Braithwaite, passed away at the home of his son November 27, 1994, Phyllis Lorraine Olsen Cox Our kind, loving wife, mother, grandmother and passed away December 4, 1994 in St. George, Utah surrounded by her loving family. She was bom March 26, 1924 in Moroni, Utah to Isaac Sherman and Florence Poulsen Olsen. She married her special sweetheart, Cecil Jacobson Cox, August 15, 1942 in Ephraim, and in 1963 sealed that love eternally in the Manti Temple. She grew up in Ephraim and attended schools there. After their er ed , marriage they lived shortly in Bingham, and then moved to Manti where they started a successful construction business. She was an active member of the LDS church, and held numerous callings for that church. She was also Phyllis Lorraine Olsen Cox Lions Club and worked on the an active member of many civic groups in Manti, giving her talent of leadership. She enjoyed being Preceded in death by her father and mother, brothers; Melvin Olsen, Devere Olsen, Gerold Olsen; sisters; around her family and spending time Doris Miner, Florence Johanna with her grandchildren. She did beautiful handwork and shared many of these pieces with her family and Mends. She had enjoyed sharing her time between her home and Mends in Manti and St. George. She had perfected her game of golf in her later years, and won many trophies and honors in this hobby. Her greatest joy was when she could be surrounded by her family or enjoying their accomplishments. She has taught many lessons of patience and compassion, and will be dearly missed by her loving companion and surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with leukemia. Bom February 5, 19 14 in Manti, Utah to George Riley and Minnie Ahlstrom Braithwaite, he married Eva Carol Mellor on November 26, 1940 in the Manti LDS Temple. Elliott spent his early years in Manti, graduating from Manti High School and Snow College. He was instrumental in establishing the Jaycees in Manti and served as its charter president and was later chosen as Mantis Outstanding Young Man of the Year. He was a charter member of the Manti Olsen. Survived by her husband, children; Ronald (Tami) Cox, Brent (LaDona) Cox, Joy Ellen (Gary) Young, Larry (Betty Jean) Cox, Michael (Darla) Cox, 22 grandchildren and two Also survived by brothers; Douglas Olsen, Reed Russell Olsen, Kendall Olsen, sister Linda Nicholls. ' Funeral Services were held Thursday, December 8, at 1.00 p.m. Sanpete County Fair Board and the Sanpete County Days of 47 Pow Wow committee. He was active in the Utah Pharmaceutical Organiza- tion and worked with the local schools on drug abuse programs. He was a faithful and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints, serving as a bishop, counselor. High Councilman, and in various other ward and stake positions. He worked tirelessly for many years with the Mormon Miracle Committee as the director of crowd management and in the Manti Tabernacle. Interment was in the Manti Cemetery, under the direction of Buchanan Mortuary. family. ' Daniel Ward Olsen, 71, passed away on December 9, 1994 at his home in Ephraim of cancer. He was bom July 26,' 1923 in Ephraim to Daniel K" and Dora Perry Olsen. He married Deon Tew on July 25, 1946 in the Manti LDS Temple. He is survived by children: Kent and Kathy Olsen, Eileen and Charles Jeffs, Jay and Tawny Olsen, Darrel and Corinne Olsen, Vaughn and Leighann Olsen, all of Ephraim; Helen and George Haney of Pay son. ; . ; ; X After graduating from Snow College he joined the Navy Air Force at the latter part of World War II where he received his pilot license. callings to Ohio Cleveland Mission, serving in Kirtland, Ohio, and to the Polynesian Cultural Center Mission in Laie, Hawaii. They also served together as ordinance workers for 25 years in the Manti Temple, as well as missionaries at the Manti Temple Visitors Center, the Family History Center, and workers in the St. George and Los Angeles temples. Until his illness, he served as vice president of the Manti Destiny Committee where he was instrumental in beginning the Christmas lighting of the Manti Heritage House comer. Elliott was deeply loved and respected by his family and friends, colleagues and fellow workers for his solid integrity, his tender compassion, his gentle spirit and his exemplary service to his fellowmen. He is survived by his wife, Carol, Manti; their children, Carol Ann B. Willardsen and husband. Dr. G. Arthur, Rialto, Califomia;Dr. John E. Braithwaite and wife, Rosie of Sandy; Dr. George R. Braithwaite and wife, Leigh, of Vista, California; and James M. Braithwaite and wife, Kallene, of manti; 25 grandchildren; and nine He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Bernice B. Anderson and Laura B. Evershed; and grandson, James Funeral services were held Thursday, December 1, at 12 noon in the Manti Tabernacle under the direction of Buchanan Mortuary. Because of his fathers health he chose to return to the farm, where his greatest joys were family centered. He was aedve in the community and the LDS Church. She was bom August 14, 1905 in Lewisville, ID to David Peter and Anna Matilda Anderson Soffe. She married Reuben Lorenzo Buchanan on November 21, 1934 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple; he died May 30, 1983. Anna graduated from Rigby High School, Rigby ID, and from LDS Hospital School of Nursing in Salt Lake City. She attended and graduated from University of Utah after studying public health and became the Davis County health nurse and the school nurse. She was a talented artist in oil paintings, landscapes and still life. She loved painting aspens in the Manti mountains. She painted scenery for the Mormon Miracle Pageant at its beginning, and some of it is still being used.
