The changes over the intervening years in this major summertime event have been no less than amazing: in the original script, in the staging, in the casting, in the costuming, in the sound effects and in other elements. Some of the people who participated in that first performance are still active in the pageant: Helen and Morgan Dyreng, Richard Olsen, Douglas Barton, and others. But always something new: this year a committee, headed by Colleen Nielson and Lynda Wheeler, is making new costumes for several of the major characters, the New England group, the pioneers.
