Show PAGE 7 TEMPLAR TRUMPET, SEPTEMBER 30, 1999 Templars sting Wasps at Homecoming By: Brad Barton On a night where Templar Stadium hosted its biggest crowd ever, the Manti Templars hammered the Juab Wasps, 4 to win their Homecoming game for the 1999 season. Things started out very well 38-1- for the Templars as Justin Stevenson returned the opening kickoff 75 yards for a TD. Brady Nielson also scored on a long bomb from cannonarmed QB Steve Jones to give the Templars a 14-- 6 lead after the 1st Quarter. The key point in that quarter was when the Wasps became the first team to finally the mighty Templar defense the entire season when QB Scott Howarth faked the Manti defense effectively by scoring on a QB bootleg to stop the Templars streak of 3 consecutive shutouts. From there, however, the Templars dominated as Brady Nielson scored again, Cy Tidwell found the promised land, and Steve Jones stole a page out of the Juab playbook by running on a bootleg of his own to score. When it was all said and done, the Templars held a commanding 32-- 6 lead at the half. In the 2nd half, Joey Suttorius scored on a short run for the Wasps, but it was all the scoring Juab would do on the night. The Templars then went on drive and a it with capped off plunge by Justin Stevenson to 4 in make the final score favor of the Templars.
