Show TEMPLAR TRUMPET, SEPTEMBER 30, 1999 PAGE 3 GETTING TO KNOW NEW MHS STUDENTS By: Anna Osmond America is the melting pot the of world, and Manti is the melting pot of the South Sanpete School District. Anna Carter, a Junior at MHS, recently moved to Ephraim from Orem. You may have seen her with her twin brother Brian Carter. In her free time Anna enjoys rollerblading and playing with tier niece. Her favorite food is spaghetti and her favorite colors are pink, purple, orange, and yellow. Annas birthday is June 19. "I am so glad that Anna moved here," said Cassie Pieno, " She is so much fun to hangout with. I really like her." Melanie Williams, also a Junior at MHS, enjoys playing sports. She was on the basketball, volleyball, and softball teams while attending her old high school in Dayton Idaho. Melanies favorite food is pasta, and her favorite color's are red and blue. She is playing on the girl's tennis team this year. I like Manti a lot better than my old high school, says Melanie, Everyone is more involved and the people are a lot nicer. These two students are part of what make Manti I ligh School the melting pot of South Sanpete High School. Exchange a smile with MHS forief exchange students By: Christa Hampton Veronika Haubold is a 1 6 year old Junior from Bavaria, Germany. She is really enjoying America but says the food here isnt very good. She misses her friends at home very much, but is happy to be at school, in the band, and playing tennis. She is thankful for the chance she has to ski in Utah and keep up with her skills. Veronika loves sports and playing the piano and flute, although she misses her family, she is glad to be here, and says that her favorite thing about America is her host family and friends. Sumire Kakazu is a Senior this year from Okanowa, Ja pan. She has really been enjoying school and all of the activities so far this year. She loves being in the band and playing her saxaphone at football games. When Sumire first came to America she was surprised at how large our buildings and stores are. And was a little alarmed a how loud Americans can be, but she likes the fact that w e show our emotions and that we are not afraid to express ourselves. Although Sumire misses the ocean and the heat of Okanowa , she is excited to see snow for the first time and hopes she doesn't freeze to death while she is here. ' .Knights Noteworthy Scott Bah Iman n By: Jill Neeley Knights Noteworthy is a way of recognition that focuses on the students that do every day simple things that teachers notice. said Mr. Petersen, he also said that he appreciates the teachers taking the time to recognize and do the Knights Noteworthy, to let the students here be noticed. This editions teachers that chose the Knights Noteworthy are Mrs. Liddell, and Mrs. Lindsay. Mrs. Liddel chose Tawny Eastman as one ofher Knights Noteworthy because she is a bright, pleasant, and hard working young lady. She has a lead in the musical and is among the first to have her lines learned. She goes the second mile to make sure that whatever she does is done to the Robert Brandt Jennifer Larsen best ofher ability. The other is Scott Bahlman. Scott is an example ofa True Templar. He never does anything halfway. He all the activities in the High School. He is a conscientious student and an exsip-por- ts tremely responsible young man. He is this years Drama Club President. Mrs. Lindsay has chosen Jennifer Larsen because she al- ways has a smile on her face and is ready to learn. Her enthusiastic attitude toward life is catching. Jennifer is an excellent student in class and always does her work and hands it in on time. She will have a great school experience here at MHS. The other students that she chose were Richard and Robert Brandt because these tw o boys are in her French class and they enjoy learning the language. They are enthusiastic about French and life in general. With twinkles in their eyes, they sometimes tease their teachers and other students. They will do well at MHS. Bonne chance mes amis! |
