It’s any state that has the cereal leaf beetle,” said Ed Bianco, entomologist for the Utah Department of Agriculture. Grass hay and grain grown in Utah — even in counties where the beetle has not been detected — must be accompanied bya certificate of origin when shipped to California. The beetle has been found in Box Elder, Cache, Davis, Morgan, Salt Lake, Utah, Wasatch and Weber counties. Shipments of crops grown in the affected counties must be accompanied by a certificate that the crops were fumigated.
