Ip Kaysville By NANCY LYNN KRZTON l Staff Writer FARMINGTON The Kaysville Chamber of Commerce honored its new officers and thanked its departing leaders during an annual banquet at the Oakridge Country Club last week. The new leaders of the chamber are President Gaylen Sprague, Vice President Ron Richins, and r Secretary-TreasureLeone Duerden. KSL-TNews Director Spencer Kinard, a Fruit Heights resident, gave the keynote talk of the evening. Kinard, narrator of the nationally syndicated LDS Church television and radio program, Music and the Spoken Word, emphasized the importance of communicating clearly. Everything revolves around communication. We cant escape how difficult it is and how important it is, he said. We hear what we think we hear. We listen to what we would like to hear. We dont always communicate the way we think we do. Kinard said according to a recent study, 90 percent of people watching a television program do not understand what they see. He admitted broadcast industry is doing a poor job of communicating. Why cant we just speak in nice, simple terms to get the message across? he asked.. Kinard said everyone needs to become more aware of the messages, conscious and unconscious, which they send to other people.
